How you can improve engagement on digital platforms

By Emily Mucheru

I honestly believe that every content creator’s nightmare is producing content that does not initiate any likes, comments, or shares. On several occasions, I have heard of content creators who started a YouTube channel or a blog only to quickly abandon his/her creative streak. Are there any remedies for this sticky situation?  Here are a couple of tips you could use to turn this situation around:

  • Consider posting engaging content: Your pictures and captions should be engaging with the audience. Don’t just post for the sake of posting. Engage your audience in a conversation through your content.
  • Giveaways– Who doesn’t like freebies? How about starting a competition with a free give-away to the winner? Make it worthwhile and you will be sure to see results!
  • Analytics is your friend! : Analytics entail detailed data on your post engagement and audience behaviors on your platform. Checking them out regularly could give you insight into the kind of content your audience is really into. Most platforms give a breakdown of the age groups, gender, and most active times of your audience. Pretty straightforward even for a  beginner.
  • Consistency, Consistency: If there previous three were branches, this is probably the trunk of the tree. Being consistent builds trust with your audience and makes them more likely to engage with your posts.
